Podiatrists assess, diagnose and treat conditions relating to the foot, ankle and lower leg. They have expertise in the function of the foot and ankle and how pain can and should be managed. Podiatry covers all areas of the foot and ankle, including dermatological, musculoskeletal, vascular and neurological aspects.

Radial Pressure Shockwave Therapy

Radial Pressure Shockwave Therapy is an effective and efficient treatment for chronic foot pain. Shockwave therapy can be used to treat plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, morton’s neuroma and joint pain. Treatment is often spread out over 3-5 appointments and pain relief can be instant.

Custom Orthotic Therapy

Orthotics are used to assist a person’s biomechanics. They are a discrete, supportive device that are fitted into footwear, and can alleviate foot pain and prevent it from returning. Collingwood Foot Clinic prescribes custom devices and also fits prefabricated devices.

Foot Pain Management

Acknowledging that foot pain can present in many different ways, Collingwood Foot Clinic is equipped to treat both acute and chronic foot pain. From plantar fascia and achilles issues, to shin splints and forefoot pain, we can explore an array of treatment options that best suit the patient.

General Foot Care

Toenails, calluses, corns, warts and fungus - often conditions hidden out of sight, that can cause considerable discomfort and pain. Collingwood Foot Clinic offers straightforward treatment of these common conditions and removes the stress of attempting DIY treatment at home.

Diabetic Foot Assessment

Diabetes can lead to changes in an individual’s vascular and neurological status in their legs and feet. Collingwood Foot Clinic uses comprehensive vascular ultrasound and digital pressures to determine a patient’s vascular status and assess their sensation. The clinic will also collaborate with a patient’s GP, to provide succinct diabetic management.

Surgery

Ingrown toenails may need some extra attention, particularly if persistent or contributing to infections. A partial nail avulsion, which involves partial removal of the nail edge,  is a minimally invasive procedure that provides long-term relief with little downtime. Warts can be stubborn to resolve and often require multiple treatments of topical agents. We can perform a procedure called Falkner’s needling that often resolves the wart in a single treatment, again with little downtime.
